Book: Power in the Blood
Author: Charles Spurgeon
pages: 190
This book was so awesome. I cannot just talk on just one thing from this book. I bought this book during war week at Revival Tab at the very end of july-Aug 1st. In the first chapter Spurgeon talks about sin as a disease. He says, "Sin is a disease because it puts the whole system of man out or order. 'It places lower faculties in the higher place, for it makes the body master over the soul' ". When I was in Chicago some weeks ago there was a man by the name of Robert Madu that spoke of Adam being connected to God like a plug getting power from a socket. He said that he could do the things of God because he was plugged into the very source that gave him power. He responded and operated on a spiritual level because he always stayed connected to the father who is spirit. The connection broke when disease(sin) started to take over, body was master over his soul.
It makes sense to say that sin puts the system of man out of order. Sin robs us of the glory of God. Some people sin in different ways or for different reasons because of a lack of hope. When there is faith in the Father your actions produces that hope. When a someone is sick the body works to fight off the sickness. Fighting off that sickness causes other symptoms to occur whether its fever, cold sweats, hives etc whatever. The body is not the same even while fighting. When a cure is given, it helps the body to return back to its original state. The blood of Jesus is the cure for our disease(sin). Spurgeon explains the verse Isaiah 53:5, "with His stripes we are healed". Not only does it mean sickness but the disease of sin that keeps us from God. How awesome it is that He is the great physician is able to heal any and every disease. PRAISE GOD.
We have no idea the cost that was paid with and through His blood. If sin was viewed as crime, we would all fall short but God in His greatness has looked at our sin as a disease that He the Great Physician is able to heal and restore no matter how great or serious it may be. HE IS GOD. BLESSED BE THE NAME OF THE LORD.
